World Arthritis Day 12 Oct 2022

World Arthritis day is a global health awareness event organized every year on 12 October to create awareness about the rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases, its impact on one's life and educating people the symptoms & preventive measures and guiding for the early diagnosis to cope up any further complications. Importance of World Arthritis Day (WAD) Arthritis is an inflammatory joint disorder, which affects the joints tissues around the joint, and other connective tissues, causing joint pain and stiffness. More than 100 types of arthritis exists, but most common are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Due to the lack of awareness and support, arthritis and its related condition has crippled much life around the world. There is no specific treatment for the arthritis, treatment option varies based on the types, so it is imperative to understand the sign & symptoms and get early diagnosis to avail appropriate treatment. The Most Common form of Arthritis The most common types include osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), fibromyalgia and gout. Arthritis and related diseases can cause debilitating, life-changing pain in different ways. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most common inflammatory joint diseases, more common in middle-aged women. Mainly manifested as chronic, symmetrical, progressive polyarthritis. In addition to affecting the joints, there are many extra-articular manifestations, such as the skin, eyes, heart, lungs, blood system, etc. The prevalence of RA is 0.5-1%, with a woman to man ratio of 3:1. It is 4 to 5 times higher in women under 50 years, but after 60 years the ratio becomes approximately 2 to 1. People with rheumatoid arthritis often have an elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) level, which may indicate the presence of an inflammatory process in the body. Other common blood tests look for rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibodies. RA (Rheumatoid arthritis) Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just your joints. In some people, the condition can damage a wide variety of body systems, including the skin, eyes, lungs, heart and blood vessels. An autoimmune disorder, rheumatoid arthritis occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks your own body's tissues. Unlike the wear-and-tear damage of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis affects the lining of your joints, causing a painful swelling that can eventually result in bone erosion and joint deformity. Anti-CCP Anti-Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide Antibody Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody (Anti-CCP): It is a polypeptide fragment of cyclic polyguanidine protein and is mainly IgG-type antibody. Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies are spontaneously secreted by B lymphocytes of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), while B lymphocytes of patients with other diseases and normal people do not spontaneously secrete anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies. Therefore, it has high sensitivity and specificity for rheumatoid arthritis, and is a highly specific indicator for the early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. Anti-CCP (Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptides) are a type of autoantibody: an antibody that works againstyour body’s normal antibodies. Anti-CCP is commonly produced when you have rheumatoid arthritis. These autoantibodies begin targeting and attacking otherwise healthy tissue.  Early diagnostic indicators of rheumatoid arthritis: anti-cyclic citrullinated antibodies appear 1-10 years before the clinical manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis, suitable for physical screening of healthy people and early diagnosis of high-risk groups. At present, it is believed that the sensitivity of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis is 50% to 78%, the specificity is 96%, and the positive rate of early patients can reach 80%. Aehealth Anti-CCP Product Aehealth Anti-CCP (Anti-cyclic Citrullinated Peptide Antibody) Rapid Quantitative Test adopts Immunofluorescence Assay method. The Anti-CCP kit detection linear range is 10~500 U/mL; the linear correlation coefficient between theoretical concentration and measured concentration can reach r≥0.990. It is used with Aehealth Lamuno X immunofluorescence analysis to escort the early diagnosis and treatment evaluation of rheumatism patients. Anti-CCP antibodies correlate with RA activity parameters. Anti-CCP antibodies predict RA damage. Anti-CCP antibodies may be useful in discriminating hepatitis-C-related arthropathy from RA.
